![]() ![]() Now the fact that you tried to crank the engine with old fuel has fouled the sparkplugs. The carb kits alone will cost you about $50 so a tank of high-test is looking pretty good, huh? It's ether that or disassemble the carbs and clean out jets you can't find much less see. You'll want to refill with some high priced fuel that has fuel system cleaners (Like Chevron with Techron) not becasue you need high-test fuel, but because you need the cleaners. ![]() The first thing to do with ANY engine that has sat for any longer than a couple of months is to dump ALL the fuel in the tank and carb(s).A stator would look like the image below. It is the alternator of the bike and produces the AC voltage that supplies the regulator. The stator windings are the coil inside where the magneto spins inside either. Most voltage regulators would look like the image below. It also converts the AC into DC to charge the battery and supply the electrical requirement of the bike when the engine is running. The voltage regulator as the name implies regulate the voltage coming from the stator/alternator. In any case, your post ' Any advice?', since battery is new, then there would only be 2 possibilities ( aside from the fuse & wiring): voltage regulator and/or stator windings. And have not had the chance to work on one. Hi and welcome to FixYa, Interesting, could not find any service information either. If this doesn't do it try tracing the ground wire from the battery to the frame and make sure it is good and clean you can also find another good spot on the frame to ground it. Before you start riding again give the battery a trickle charge with a 2amp 12v battery charger. Also try and clean up the plug and connections. I simply took mine off (1 bolt at the base of it) and cleaned it up especially the ground wire under the bolt you loosen. With the cover off on the side with the battery you will see what looks like a small amplifier with a white plug going into the top of it. ![]()
