![]() ![]() ![]() I had one hell of a time watching this movie, the fight-scene choreography is breathtaking and whilst there’s no real story as such, who the hell cares. An absolutely savage and bloody affair, no thinking required, if you love fight sequences in your movies then this film pulls no punches and takes you through 90 minutes of punches, knees and insane acrobatic kicks as blood, sweat and spit grace the ring canvas. Whilst MMA fighting films are worldly renown for their stellar scriptwriting I had to take a step back and review this film for what it was. Seeking forgiveness from the fighter’s widow he risks his life going back to Russia, only to find himself dragged back into the violent world he tried to escape from. But after the death of his ring opponent he finds himself questioning the decisions he has made in life. The loosely written story focuses on Boyka (Adkins) who is taking his new found freedom and pursuing his dream of becoming the ultimate fighter. When an accidental death makes Boyka question everything he stands for he must face a gauntlet of challenges in the ruthless world of underground fighting to right his wrongs. ![]() But when the wife gets kidnapped by a crime kingpin, Boyka must take on a series of dangerous opponents in the ring to keep her from a life of servitude. Infamous Russian MMA fighter Yuri Boyka (Scott Adkins) returns to the ring this winter to fight for the highest stakes yet. After he accidentally kills an opponent in the ring, Boyka reaches out to the fallen opponents wife. ![]()
